Floyd Balentine
Founder and Chief Experience Officer
Floyd Balentine is the Founder and Chief Experience Officer of 1st
Klass Enterprise LLC, a luxury lifestyle company rooted in excellence, service,
and purpose. His journey—spanning aviation, leadership, mentorship, and
entrepreneurship—reflects a life committed to elevating others while never losing sight of
faith, family, and integrity.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Floyd's passion for aviation was ignited at just
five years old. Frequent access to aviation through extensive travel fueled
his fascination with the skies and the endless promise of possibility they represented. That
childhood dream evolved into a lifelong pursuit of mastery, discipline, and leadership.
Two weeks after graduating from North Community High School in Minnesota,
Floyd began his collegiate journey at Saint Cloud State University, where
he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Aviation, graduating in
December of 1998. While earning his degree, Floyd intentionally developed
leadership, mentorship, and technical skills through extensive involvement. He served in the
College Aero Club, Minority Student Programs, Advanced Preparatory and Career
Center, and later served as a Resident Hall Advisor,
motivating young adults to stay focused, disciplined, and purpose-driven.
Upon graduation, Floyd joined the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals
(OBAP) and began his professional aviation career with Mesaba
Airlines, first as a Customer Service Agent, gaining
foundational airline experience, and simultaneously as a Certified Flight
Instructor at the Saint Cloud Airport. His ascent through the
ranks was built on excellence and trust—serving as a First Officer on the
RJ-85, then advancing to Captain on the SF-340, and later
Captain on the CRJ-200, a role he held until 2016.
In 2016, Floyd was hired by United Airlines, flying the
Boeing 737, and in 2021 he began training on the
Boeing 777, the largest aircraft in United's fleet. In February
2025, he upgraded once again—this time returning to the Boeing 737 in
the Captain's seat, reflecting consistency, preparation, and faith.
Beyond the flight deck, Floyd's impact is deeply felt in the community. He has served on
pilot recruiting teams, as President of the Saint Cloud State
University Alumni Board, and as a commencement speaker
addressing more than 3,000 graduates—twice. He currently serves as
Director of the Twin Cities ACE Academy and Tampa Bay ACE
Academy, helping inspire, motivate, and cultivate high-school students to
pursue higher education and aim boldly in their career aspirations. His involvement with
organizations like the Monitors Club of Minnesota further underscores his
commitment to youth development and mentorship.
Floyd resides in Tampa with his beautiful wife Dee and their two handsome sons. He believes
that hard work, faith, and self-determination open every door—whether in the sky or on the
sea.
