From Faith to the Helm: The 1st Klass Journey into Yacht Chartering and Service

On February 26, 2025 — my 50th birthday — I made one of the most defining decisions of my life.

I launched 1st Klass Enterprise LLC with a vision: to deliver a premium, five-star experience on the water — the kind of experience that goes beyond boating and becomes something people never forget.

But what made that decision powerful wasn’t that I had everything figured out.

It was that I was willing to learn.

Becoming a Student of the Craft

When I entered the charter industry, I understood something early:

This is not a space you fake your way through.

This is a craft that demands knowledge, discipline, and real-world experience.

So instead of pretending, I committed to learning the right way — through education, mentorship, and time on the water.

I became a true student of the craft.

I completed a boating safety course.

I enrolled in and completed the OUPV (Six-Pack) Captain’s Course.

I brought on an experienced captain with over 20 years in the industry — not just to support operations, but to mentor and teach.

And that mentorship changed everything.

Because there are things you can only learn out there on the water:

  • How a vessel truly responds in different conditions

  • How to safely launch and retrieve

  • How to read the environment — wind, current, depth, and traffic

  • How to operate with confidence, awareness, and respect

Those lessons cannot be rushed. They must be earned.

From Learning to Leading

Today, I operate my 27-foot Crownline 260 XSS — MY ACE — with the training, experience, and confidence to safely carry up to six passengers.

Every charter is more than a trip.

It’s an opportunity to:

  • Refine operations

  • Elevate the guest experience

  • Execute at a higher level

  • Continue growing as both a captain and a business owner

Because at 1st Klass Enterprise, we don’t just offer boat rides.

We deliver The 1st Klass Experience — built on professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

Why I’m Joining the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary

As I continue to grow this business, I’ve made a decision to go even deeper — to master not just the experience side of boating, but the operational and safety side at the highest level.

That’s why I’m taking the next step and applying to join the Coast Guard Auxiliary here in Tampa.

This move is intentional.

1. Advanced Training & Knowledge

The Auxiliary provides ongoing education in navigation, seamanship, weather, communications, and emergency response — all critical to operating at a professional level.

2. A True Safety-First Mindset

Safety isn’t a slogan — it’s a discipline.

The Auxiliary reinforces the habits and standards required to operate responsibly every time I leave the dock.

3. Real-World Experience

Participating in patrols, vessel safety checks, and missions offers hands-on experience that sharpens awareness and decision-making under real conditions.

4. Learning from Seasoned Mariners

There is value in proximity to experience.

Being around veteran boaters and maritime professionals pushes growth to another level.

5. Credibility & Professional Growth

Alignment with the Coast Guard Auxiliary reflects something important to my clients:

That I take this seriously.

That I operate with intention.

That I’m committed to doing things the right way.

6. Giving Back to the Boating Community

This journey isn’t just about what I gain.

It’s about contributing — helping others stay safe on the water and supporting a stronger, more educated boating community.

The Bigger Vision: The 1st Klass Way

Starting 1st Klass Enterprise was never about comfort.

It was about purpose.

I didn’t wait until I had every answer.

I stepped forward in faith.

I committed to learning.

I asked questions.

I accepted guidance.

And I kept moving forward.

That’s how real growth happens.

Today, this business is becoming exactly what I envisioned:

A premium charter experience built on:

And I’m just getting started.

Final Thoughts

My mission is simple:

To keep learning.

To keep improving.

To master this craft.

To lead with safety.

And to build a brand that sets the standard — not just meets it.

Because in the end, this journey is not just about boats.

It’s about faith.

It’s about growth.

It’s about discipline and purpose.

And it’s about becoming the captain I was called to be —

by land , by sea , and by air.
